Cui Feng Dong Ding Style Gao Shan Oolong 2021 - teamountain.cz

Whenever I'm in Prague, teamountain is almost the first tea place I head to — modern interior, great selection of oolongs, Japanese green teas, and heicha.

Since they sell most teas starting from 50g, shipping to Poland isn’t really expensive, and the prices are reasonable, I figured reviews of their teas might be helpful.

Cui Feng Dong Ding Style Gao Shan Oolong - 2021

Origin: Cui Feng, Nantou

Harvest: May 2021

Roasting: three times, last time in March 2022

Cultivar: Chin Shin

Price: 295 CZK ~ 59 PLN /50g

The dry tea smells intensely of toffee and roasted nuts.

The first infusion is light, lacking oiliness, but the aroma lingers long in the mouth.

Already in the second infusion it reaches its peak — the roast manifests as a very delicate sweetness combined with light vanilla, completely free of astringency.

Third infusion
Third infusion

In the following infusions it’s delicate but consistently pleasant. From the 4th infusion it starts losing flavor, but it remains enjoyable for another 2–3 infusions.

It will be great for fans of lightly roasted teas, though for me it would probably be nicer either unroasted or more heavily roasted.

It smells more like gyokuro, very sweet with umami notes. Since it's a fukamushicha, the leaves are quite fine and entirely coated with matcha.
